TwitterEyes - a FF Add-on that,“Keeps an eye on the length of your Twitter updates, making replacements for you when you need to make room”

Twitzer - a FF Add-on which would be good if everyone used it, basically you type your tweet ignoring that you are exceeding the character count, and then you kind of collapse it, someone on the other end can then expand it
