Anothr : IM RSS Reader

At first glance Anothr is an RSS to IM service, others are immedi.at, Yahoo! Alerts, ZapTXT, Rasasa, NewsGator for Yahoo! Messenger, Blog Change Bot, Blastfeed, InstantFeed, Zingku, Queoo, Feed Crier.

The difference here is that Anothr allows you to talk to it via IM eg. “?”, it will IM back a help menu, eg. subscribe to a feed “+ feedURL”, eg. unsubscribe from a feed “-32″…see more, here is the command list.

The other major difference is that it is not just a feature, but an actual web-based RSS Reader, you even get a page where it lists your shared feeds…I recall feeds.reddit having this feature.

If you are offline, then all updates are saved in your feedlog…you can star and share items.

So let’s get the flow of this:

- By IM you can read posts, subscribe/unsubscribe to, see your feed set, pause/replay feeds, etc…
- Web based feed management where you can pause, tag, share, delete your feeds
- Feedlog section is a web based RSS Reader, read “All items”, “Undelivered by IM”, read your “Shared items” or read your “Starred items”, read by tag or read by feed.
NOTE: you cannot mark read/unread, but you do have a calendar based archive

Here’s my shared feeds page, if I click on a feed it will display a list of people who subscribe to that feed.

Check out all feeds that have been tagged web2.0 by the Anothr community, it will list related people, ie. people who use this tag…this makes for a great feed discovery service.
Check out the hot feeds.

You can even set your alert intervals, see Touchstone for feed attention management.
