Grazr, the magnificent OPML feed grazing widget is now hosting OPML.
This means you can:
- upload your OPML at Grazr, where it will hosted with it’s own OPML URL
- view it at Grazr
- take it with you as a widget (even quickly add it to your start page).
Upload is only by file, so if you have an OPML URL, you will have to save it to your desktop first, I hope they offer both options soon.
What you also get is a mother OPML URL, what this means is that each OPML you allow Grazr to host will be an include node in your username (mother) OPML.
Also note that the Grazr widgets are always improving, there is now a file menu to view and action your widget.
What could be next, allowing you to actually create an OPML perhaps.
RSS Readers usually generate OPML’s, but if you want to make your own you can use an outliner such as OPML Workstation.
NOTE: don’t forget OPML’s don’t only have to include RSS feeds, each node within an OPML can be a feed, or a HTML link or text, even an OPML.
Not sure if Grazr will go down the social network path, there was one service nearly a year ago that was going down this path, I had a play and it was amazing, basically tree type OPML’s hosting within a social network, I hope it happens.
I just did a quick search, and it is still in alpha mode, treedia may be coming soon.
Back to it…
Check out the recent Grazr’s, this page also has an OPML for the recent Grazr’s…take this and feed graze feed grazr’s (this is becoming zen)!
This seems like the start of a social network as you can view other people’s Grazr’s even view all their Grazr’s at their user space, next would be to add friends and favourites.
Here is my user space.
Here is my user OPML.
NOTE: I believe this is only hours old, so we will have to put up with the occassional errors.
What I would like to see is to be able to search the OPML from a search box within the widget, without having to rely on Marjolein’s hack…hmmm Adam’s user space may be a glimpse of things to come, it’s only for techie’s for now.
Check out Adam’s user OPML, this is what I mean by a mother OPML.
Since an OPML is not neccesarily a Reading List (where each node is an RSS feed), I’m not sure if it could be the new SYO, maybe…
