mugshot : meta-content stream social network
mugshot re-syndicates all your content from scattered services into the one stream, and has a stream of content from the mugshot people you follow…basically a content stream social network. Plus you can join groups and get a widget.
Others in this meta-identity game - Ziki, Lijit, Jaiku, ProfileLinker, SocialNetwork. In, Pidy, ozmozr, Profilactic.
First we were all following the latest on services (eg. blogs, bookmarks, photo’s, etc…), now we can get that compiled into the one stream, and it turns the concept from subscribing to blogs, bookmarks, photo’s into following people.
We were doing this with blogs anyway (as people blog about the latest info), but now some of the blog content has been hijacked by other documenting services, ie. I don’t have to blog about everything, as I can bookmark stuff, etc…so if you just follow my blog, you will miss out on all this other stuff from my world.
But how do we follow one person’s world (blog, bookmarks, photo’s, etc…), this is what mugshot and others are about, we can follow people’s findings in a more well rounded way, we can be updated by stuff they don’t blog about.
So it is basically about managing your online content, which in turn creates another chance to share your online content, but this time in a neat succinct package…kind of like the latest about me.
The features highlight what you can do:
- updates from various services, follow people
- share stuff in groups, rate, comment
- get you own page, desktop (systems tray) or web widget
