This is great for conversational threading, you can also store files…only thing is you can’t have a conversation connected to a file.

Also I wonder if you can post to a group from you email client, just like you can receive posts in your email.

Another way of doing this is to use something like Aftermail (now Quest Archive Manager) and open up a conversation thread to people not involved in the thread initially.

Take a look at QuickTopic.com and Conversate.org. The right solution would be hot. A solution with privacy (ID and password) plus context (project, task or folder structure) would be hot.

I like the idea of Read/write email though I’m still not sure how it would work in practise/how to get the usability aspects sorted
