It seems we can’t get enough of topic pages, Boxxet is the latest, what makes it different is that a topic can belong to a group for creation/editing, kind of like a closed wiki. Not sure how this makes it different to Wetpaint, I know Zimbio also has group features…others are Squidoo, Hubpages, Fanpop, and Webjam.

[ADDED 18/01/07: Actually these are automated topic pages, just like automated news radars.]

Webjam looks like social start page version of Squidoo. Actually the powerful Zimbio is a communal type of Squidoo, where people can join/contribute to a topic. Zimbio has lots of modules for each topic (link lists, blog, forum, etc…), and you get a dashboard view of all your modules on a startpage.

So I guess Webjam seems similar, since it to has a blog widget and a bookmarks widget, but Webjam in comparison is just the startpage component.

I really like the feel of Webjam, it is easier enough to use, and fun to create a topic start page.

I guess the difference with Webjam, like Ning, is that you can clone topics and make them into your own.

Blastfeed is similar to Zaptxt, and Rasasa…not only does it filter feed/s or an OPML, it will also deliver in RSS, email, and soon IM - I don’t see SMS yet - and it also gives you a widget for your blog.

Features

- Add feed from directory or manually add feeds or OPML
- Your My feeds tab will list all your feeds and even output an OPML (note this OPML is not unique)
- Create a channel (filter by keyword, title, author, author tags), plus delivery settings
- Then select the feeds for your channel from your My feeds list

Done

- Activate on/off
- Each channel has a feed
- Add it to your RSS Reader
- Add the latest posts as a widget

It is very simple to use.

In the future I think remixing and delivery services like these can be an advanced option in an RSS Reader.

If you want to get more refined and granular, what you can do is filter each feed on it’s own, so I guess I’d have to make a channel for each feed, and then splice the filtered feeds from each channel together into a new channel, only when you do this do not filter for anything, just do a blank search.

ZapTXT still seems more powerful, I like how you can get a river of news of all your tasks or just for one task.
Plus since you tag your channels/tasks, you can discover other tasks by tag, and then make your own filtered task by choosing from the feed list of this original task.
Also each task/channel has its own OPML, but unlike Blastfeed each task doesn’t have its own feed, what ZapTXT does have is an overall spliced feed from all your tasks.

What I like about Blastfeed is that you have a back end My feeds folder, and the fielded search is just as powerful as MySyndicaat and FeedRinse (not sure if it accepts Boolean operators)…I actually find Blastfeed the easiest to use.
