Tagging for Outlook email
Alex Barnett points me to Taglocity, this is a plug in for Outlook 2003.
Plain and simple it allows you to tag your emails via a toolbar…so now you can use categories as buckets, and tagging as more specific keywords, or use it anyway you want, it’s just another chance to organise and find stuff.
Those who use Gmail already know the beauty of tagging emails, only Taglocity has one up, instead of a list of tags, it is visually represented in a tag cloud.
When you send an email it also sends the tags along with it, not a bad idea in suggesting tags for the recipient…your project team can develop a consensus in tagging emails…read more.
Another thing it also does is allow you to auto-tag your email, I suppose this is similar to Tagcloud, Zoomclouds…RSS Readers such as MyFeedz and WizAg also have this feature built in.
Check out the demo…it seems you can also tag tasks, meetings, change an email to a task, filter Outlook items by tags, a search interface, etc…see the FAQ.
Now what we need is Gmail threading of emails, this is a must.

The Phlat overlay for MSN desktop search allows for tagging of desktop files and e-mails but I found it somewhat cumbersome. The search — although it provided faceted browsing of results — seemed to be less effective than the standard MSN desktop search. Perhaps the toolbar for tagging would get me to do it, but otherwise, I’m too lazy
