3spots,

Are you saying that you included a homepage URL in the trackback field in your blog post at time of publishing?

The only thing I have put in the trackback field in my blog posts are trackback URL's, I've never tried putting in a normal URL, like a blog post, or blog homepage...what happens, does it ping them somehow?

I moderate comments/tb's so I don't have to clean them up...haven't looked at my about page for a while.

In my RSS comments I get comments and tb's, and sometimes I get pings, I don't know what these pings are, maybe they happen when someone puts a normal blog post URL in the tb field, not sure...actually this is probably incorrect.
When I first started my blog, each time I linked to one of my past posts, that past post would have a ping back from my current post...I asked my blog host to disable this, but maybe I shouldn't have because if you are looking at a past post you could click on the ping back to see a more current post about a similar topic.
Instead now I have to go back to these past posts and re-edit a link eg. Update - see more.

Actually I have a whole post on this issue, where if you link to past posts, the past post will automatically publish the link to the current post in the body of the past post and not the comments/tb/ping field.

Check it out:

I've encountered the same problem, most of the time I could tb to a post that had related content, hoping everybody has tb email notifications. but the URL I wrote was the domain URL...maybe it's not very ethical?
Do you clean up your about page comments and TBs sometimes?
PS: I am subcribed to your feeds. :)
