"Now what if you find a webpage that has a really long essay, can you clip the whole thing via the bookmarklet?"

Yes - I personally pull out short excerpts because of the context where I republish, but there's no reason not to publish essays, images, HTML, whatever. Eyebeam does this on the original Reblog: http://eyebeam.org/reblog

I wasn't familiar with WatchThatPage, it's worth checking out. I've been messing with a python library called BeautifulSoup for similar reasons, such as generating custom RSS feeds for specific events on a page:

http://migurski.net/bt-tv/?title=daily+show

Michael,

I haven't seen reBlog in action, but that's good to know that you can add stuff to your stream that has not come through the reFeed RSS Reader.

It seems you can add an item via a bookmarklet approach, and these items don't have the "Originally from" attribution

So when you use either the bookmarklet approach or the clipping approach it seems you are only re-publishing excerpts, could you choose full-text if you desire.

The bookmarklet is handy for clipping webpages that you come across outside of your RSS Reader, and it's also good for stuff that doesn't have an RSS feed.

If you use a monitoring service like WatchThatPage to track webpages that don't have RSS feeds, you are still able to clip that webpage using reBlog.

Now what if you find a webpage that has a really long essay, can you clip the whole thing via the bookmarklet?

I noticed these 2 posts on your blog...I must look at the screencast.

"What if you see a webpage you want to add that isn’t in your reFeeds RSS Reader…how do we clip a webpage…we need a reBlogger bookmarklet, this way you don’t neccessarily require the reFeeds RSS Reader."

Thought you'd like to know that Reblog does include a "self feed" featur, that lets you thread in posts via bookmarklet, Del.icio.us-style. If you still have RB installed, you can see this via the "Post New" link in the header. You can see my own collection here, notably the ones without an "Originally from..." attribution slug: http://migurski.net/reblog/out/
