BlogBridge: use and create your own reading lists

I mentioned a little while ago that BlogBridge has the capability to subscribe to Reading Lists, simply load the URL of an OPML (all items in the OPML obviously must be feed URL’s) and you will have all the feeds loaded in one go…now when ever a feed is deleted/added at the original URL of the OPML it will reflect in your Reading List, and there are also further options on accepting these dynamic changes.

Well now BlogBridge also enables you to create Reading Lists, this means that you can store some feeds in a special Reading List folder, I guess this is in a different section than the folder you store your usual feeds in…this is a good idea to separate feeds in Reading List folders from feeds in your normal folders, as it is more organised.

Anyway what it means is that the Reading List folder you store your feeds in will live at a URL, this is your OPML…since it lives at a URL you can promote your Reading List.

Take Rojo for example, every folder/tag in your account has a spliced feed URL, you could also make an OPML URL (Reading List) for every folder/tag.
The only thing is that you may give your folders/tags personal names or not think they are fit to be published as Reading Lists, that’s why, BlogBridge are not making Reading Lists for your usual feed folders, they are making a new section to house this stuff, a section where you intentionally want to publish Reading Lists.
If you have a folder in your usual section that’s got some real great feeds that would make an excellent reading list, just copy all those feeds, or the folder itself, into a folder in your Reading List section.

I’m yet to check out BlogBridge’s screencast on Reading Lists…it uses a newsmastering site called Top 10 Sources as an example, I blogged about this amazing site not too long ago.

This is exciting, the most cutting edge RSS Reader (BlogBridge) is meeting the most advanced form of Newsmastering (Top 10 Sources)…briefly this is a directory of categories, each containing topics…each category is a Public RSS Aggregator, and so is each of the topics…and each topic is allocated an OPML URL (Reading List), although, last time I looked each category lacks an OPML.
