Social Bookmarks: RSS to OPML
Create a list of RSS feeds or an OPML file from your favourite social bookmark service in one easy step using the Social Bookmarking RSS Feeds - OPML Generator…see more.
A previous way was to use the OPML Generator, but this means you have to manually enter each feed, whereas this new tool is specifically designed to automatically extract these feeds out of a social bookmarking service
…you can enter multiple users, and select only the tags you want.
What it does is generate the code, so you can save it with Notepad (with the .opml extension), and then you could import this into your favourite RSS reader or even an outliner, like OPML Manager.
From a previous post:
“…if each del.icio.us tag had an OPML file, then I could subscribe to several OPML’s within my OPML…would this show an archive of every item in each tag?”
“…if a del.icio.us tag bundle had an OPML file, I could import this (subscribe) into my OPML, and have an instant outline, in one go, of the tag bundle name followed by a folder for each tag, listing all items in each folder…this could then be included on the sidebar of my blog.
Each time I add a new link to a del.icio.us tag within this tag bundle it would dynamically reflect in my OPML outline, so the outline tree on my blog sidebar would always be up-to-date with changes as well.
My sidebar could also offer a feed for each folder in the outline (ie. each tag feed from my del.icio.us bundle), this way people could be notified of new stuff to each folder in the outline…a feed for the whole outline could be made at FeedDigest.”
…also see an earlier post.
So what I’m thinking is that I could import a del.icio.us OPML into an outliner, this will give the OPML a URL, so this can now be a reading list
…but I’d like to go further and display this outline in my blog sidebar, with OPML Renderer…even further I would like each tag to display the latest weeks items and a link that says “more” which will launch to del.icio.us…I guess what I’m asking for is an aggregator within an OPML outline that I can place on my sidebar.
For example, something like a Blogdigger Group in my sidebar, not just a spliced feed, but each feed is in a folder where I can expand to see the latest entries…so the outline tree is the Blogdigger Group, and each source feed is an item or folder within the outline, and expanding one of these will show the latest entries…a portal on my sidebar.
Similar to a tool like RSS to Java, but it would be OPML to Java…in RSS to Java, the items re-syndicated are posts…in OPML to Java, my idea is the items re-syndicated are feeds themselves, that can expand to also show posts.

Some more interesting stuff from OUseful is Social Bookmarking Interoperability, and Distributed Social Bookmarking which I came across in a response to one of my posts.
…and more on synching several systems, similar to pushing daily del.icio.us links into a blog, why not, instead of a blog, another service like a social bookmark system.
See also this post on group dynamics within social bookmarks, and connecting like taggers (this can be seeked by browsing your tags and other users who have also tagged similar stuff, but what about a formal procedure for the workplace…once the system identifies 20 resources each tagged by 2 people, it may instigate a formal introduction).
