Article exchange

I have got a tag at my del.icio.us account called “**needaccess**”, this tag contains articles I haven’t got a subscription to, it would be good if we could make an exchange for people to help each other out with accessing articles, but then again this seems highly illegal…ohh well, I’d really love to read Introduction to the special section on recommender systems…hint! hint!

Active blogrolls!

Filed under: General, blogs, rss, readers, tools, opml

In an earlier post I was suggesting that it would be good if you could personalise the content in the Bitty Browser menu.
If possible you could click on menu, see a bunch of categories, and the several feeds within each category…so you could click on a category and read a river of news, or click on a feed to see the latest.
This implementation would enable you to have a live or active blogroll, this beats just have a bunch of blog home page links on your sidebar, with Bitty Browser people can view your blogroll within categories and read the latest contents then and there.

Another automation would be to import an OPML file to get your whole blogroll imported in one go all filed in folders.

An alternative is to use a RSS-to-Java tool to re-syndicate latest posts from each blog on your blog roll, but this would take up your whole sidebar forever…Bitty Browser already enables this in a scrollable mini-browser, you can also have the home page of the browser always set to your favourite feed.

Another alternative is to use an OPML sidebar script, what this does is load a blog roll onto a blog sidebar already filed in categories, this is importing an outline into a blog via the OPML file…see here (in this example the outline is not made in an outlining tool, but it is an RSS reader which I suppose is an outline of feeds in categories).

What would be amazing is if each blog on the blogroll had a little arrow (collapse/expand), which would show the latest entries for each blog…maybe at the top of the blogroll you could have a re-fresh button to gather the latest entries.

And what about if new blogs are added to the OPML file of the outline (or OPML file of the RSS reader in this case), will these magically appear on the blogroll (maybe this needs another re-fresh button also)

Delancey: frequently del.icio.us

Delancey keeps track of your frequently used bookmarks.

It fetches your last 100 bookmarks from del.icio.us and presents them in an alternate interface.

Just enter your username and/or tag, there is also a link down the bottom called “permalink” which will change the page you are on to a permalink address.

The idea is also to make this a frequently used favourites page, that’s why you can make permalinks, and also also change the name of your bookmarks, and use the Delancey bookmarklet so sites are automatically tagged “Delancey”.

When you click on a bookmark, while it launches the page it also records the click on the Delancy server, and annotates the bookmark with the number of clicks.

What about if it collated your top clicked bookmarks across all tags onto a page (ranking your bookmarks according to your clicks)
