OPML all the way!
TechCrunch reveals an awesome use for OPML.
First it was re-syndicating RSS of a blog and putting that on your sidebar, so from your blog you can see the latest posts from another blog (or search feed, or website, etc…)
Well how about re-syndicating an OPML, if this is what it is technically doing. If you check out Scripting News blog, on the sidebar you will see a box called TechCrunch Directory, this is an OPML of all the categories on the TechCrunch blog.
It also has an XML button for the OPML file…now if you exported this into Bloglines would you get all the categories from TechCrunch in separate feeds in one go.
Anyway, if you click on a category, you can view a list of title indexed links, also this page has an XML button of an OPML file.
So this basically means the you can place the whole content of a blog on your sidebar, and browse by category…that’s full on!
[ADDED: “Here’s the same OPML viewed in the OPML surfer“….thanks Randy…I also tried it in OPML search, but no go, it musn’t be sumbitted.]
