Looks like it's down again. This time for the past week. Too bad, I really liked that service.

WatchThatPage is down again. I found an alternative, www.changedetect.com is free and seems to be rock solid by other reviews on the net. Anyone use changedetect?

What do you know...WTP is down again!

The last 3 times I signed up for an online service within a few months they were out of biz. Looks like I may be SOL again.

Watchthatpage.com just came back online. Their ISP dropped their connection, but it has now been restored. They are also claiming they have more server online to improve performance.

I have been using TrackEngine since 2001. There is a free and a commercial service which has never failed on me. A small price to pay annually for reliability! This is probably the oldest and most feature packed service in the market today.

Before the server was down (last week), I contacted them via email to find out what was happening. Here's the response I got on August 16:

----------------------------------------------

Hi,

We have had some trouble with the hardware for WatchThatPage lately. There are just too many users on the servers. We are upgrading the servers on Saturday, and any problems will hopefully be done after that.

If you still experience problems next week, please let me know.

Olav

----------------------------------------------

My guess is that the server upgrade didn't go smoothly.

I am a member at whatchthatpage (one time payment of 20US$), but certainly there is no difference if the server is down. I think this is quite unacceptable, as I really rely on it. It has happened in the past, I d give them an uptime of roughly 90% with long downs. Are they on holliday or what?

Who has a good alternative? I tried a perlskript websec, but that really does not do the job

I've come to rely on WatchThatPage too, so appreciate any info on where it's gone and if it's coming back. I've used ChangeDetection and notice that www.changenotes.com will let you monitor 100 pages (though I was monitoring more than that with WatchThatPage).
