Simpy re-visited: search extraordinaire!
My previous post was on Simpy, the social bookmarks manager…Otis (Simpy’s dad) has left a few clarifying comments.
As it turns out Simpy does search full-text, terms are highlighted in the results:
page:java
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=page%3Ajava&src=searchbar
If you do a free-text search like:
java
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=java&src=searchbar
…you get more hits as it not only searches full-text but also in all the other fields
Also fielded search is available, I missed it at the bottom here.
User searching is coming soon…at the moment when you create a topic you can search for users
eg. username:otis
Here are some examples from Otis’s account:
webapp OR web
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=webapp%20OR%20web
webapp NOT web
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=webapp%20NOT%20web
+tags:ajax -tags:javascript
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=%2Btags%3Aajax%20-tags%3Ajavascript
title:rss
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=title%3Arss
title:rss + tags:blog
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=title%3Arss%20%2B%20tags%3Ablog&src=searchbar
note:java -tags:api
http://www.simpy.com/simpy/User.do?username=otis&q=note%3Ajava++-tags%3A%22api%22
This gives Simpy a great advantage over del.icio.us, and other alike folksonomies.
