Exalead and RSS

Exalead is now displaying an RSS button in results if that particular webpage in the results is RSS enabled.

I guess this is the same as what Yahoo! is doing (only they don’t have a button, they have a hyperlink labelled XML).

Internet news also alludes that you can search via the RSS/XML file format…ie. just return results that are RSS enabled (Yahoo! also does this in its advanced search).
Although I couldn’t find this file format in Exalead.

So in a way both these search engines can be used as an RSS keyword search…Fagan Finder has Yahoo! included in its “search for RSS Feeds.”

Google with del.icio.us clusters

Google + Del.icio.us = Search Context explains a search engine using tags as clusters in the search results screen.

ie. most popular tags, for the pages returned in the results.

So this is mixing together the wonders of traditional search engines and user-defined websites (socialbookmarks) to give more context to the web.

del.icio.us: tagcloud and search

The del.icio.us front page has a list of the most active tags…if you click to see more tags it goes to this page.

Cool a tagcloud for del.icio.us, and a search for tags facility…you can even combine tags in your search.
eg.rss+readers

Although you still have to use the address bar to search for a user, unlike del.icio.us tag search (3rd Party).

I also noticed when you browse items within a tag, if you scroll to the end there is a link to view recent popular items within this tag
(this is handy as there is only a bunch of tags to choose from on the popular page, so now this can be done with any tag).

Also if you scroll down the popular page there is a link to show only recent items
(although the heading of the page is still “popular” - not sure how these 2 pages differ).

I’m not sure if my recent discoveries are new or old, but they are exciting none the less.
