OPML topic guides!
Great post from technogeekery for librarians on OPML’s.
Explains that in a library environment an OPML (a file that contains within it a collection of RSS feeds) may be akin to resources (feeds) in a topic guide. Once people have learnt about RSS, they can go the next step and browse ready made OPML topic files and load them into their readers…saving newcomers surfing the web trying to find feeds…loading an OPML gives them a starter.
Further explains the procedure of importing/exporting OPML’s in Bloglines, and also how to alter the content in the file…adding/substracting feeds from the code.
Wouldn’t it be great to avoid this step by being able to check boxes in Bloglines to incorporate the feeds of your choice into an OPML.
