Zniff clusters
Zniff is a full-text search engine which searches a human indexed portion of the web via the Spurl social bookmarks community…another similar engine is Furl.
Imagine if it could return results in clusters…presenting organised results like others, such as Vivisimo and Clusty.
In this case the results would be clusters by tag (the meta-data describing the item).
Clicking on a tag would show the search results just within that tag…another feature could be to show results within multiple tags by adding them together (as you do in del.icio.us or the add on feature del.icio.us tag search).
A bonus would be if you could then refine your query, by doing another search within the individual tag/s…in a personal Furl account you can search within a folder!
The cluster of tags could be shown as a list on the side of the screen as seen in Vivisimo and Clusty, with a number next to each tag showing you quantity of bookmarks within a tag. Another way of presenting the cluster could be like Technorati tags…it’s a great visual tool, the size of the font denotes the quantity, and the layout shows the comparison of the results.
It would be great if all the social bookmark managers were searchable in one meta-search engine…a type of semantic web, although a spammable web.
Technorati tag search, Tag central, and del.icio.us tag search don’t work the same as Zniff or Furl as they don’t search full-text, they just search for a tag and present the contents within…so they, in effect, jump to the last step.
These folksonomies should exchange notes, as Zniff and Furl could offer a field search for “tags” (like the others) as well as its full-text feature.
