Blog: categories and tags

Check this out: the Observer Blog from Guardian Unlimited is using tags to describe its blog posts in addition to the traditional categories.

Although the tags aren’t visible underneath each post…you can see the list of collective tags in a box (the size of the font on each tag denotes the quantity of its use).

Here’s an explanation.

Date with del.icio.us!

When you look at a bookmark in your del.icio.us account it will have the date that you bookmarked the item, but this text only.

If you click on the “…and ? other people” link, this goes to a list of all the people who bookmarked this URL.

Use CTRL-F to find your account name (bookmark) in the list - now you can see that the date text is a hyperlink.
When you click on this it goes to a page that has the date in the URL, but the page is blank….here’s an example:

« earlier | later » 740 items total | page 2005-04-05 of 8
« earlier | later » 740 items total | page 2005-04-05 of 8

Now I’m not sure why there are 2 lines of the same content as they both do the same thing…the only hyperlink is later.
If you click on the “later” link the URL changes to just the year…example:

« earlier | later » 740 items total | page 2004 of 8
« earlier | later » 740 items total | page 2004 of 8

If you keep clicking, the year keeps going earlier.

Not sure if I’m missing something, but I assumed that if you click on a specific date it will show all the items you bookmarked on that date…and then you can click earlier or later to see previous or next dates…and maybe alter the url to just the year date or even month date to see all items bookmarked in those larger time periods.
